.....I'll bet you all can guess the rest. My wife celebrated a milestone birthday late last month, and she wanted to visit family down in Florida. There were also some attractions nearby that she wanted to see; very crowded attractions requiring transportation by bus in order to get there. Being a pretty passive guy (and - here's the main reason - because I love her) I agreed to go, even though I didn't particularly want to. Wherever we went, very few people except my wife, myself and a couple of her family members were masked. People down there walk around like Covid never happened. It's insane! I actually saw a guy on the bus blow snot into his hand and then grab the hand-hold again. I didn't want to make a scene with her family there, but I was seething with rage and loathing at this disgusting example of human trash. He looked exactly like you'd expect: borderline obese, hairier than Bigfoot, and about as sharp as a bag of wet hair. The guy had some serious 1/6 energy going on. So anyway, on our second-to-last day there, my wife started feeling like she had a cold. She actually had brought a Covid test with her just in case, and she took it. It came up negative. So we flew home (fully masked the whole way of course) and she took another Covid test at home. It read positive. She took yet another test that she had lying around just to be sure, and it, too, read positive. All the time she had it, she never got sicker than you would from a cold or the flu (thank goodness). And all the while, I kept expecting my own symptoms to show up any day....and they never did. I took several tests throughout the whole thing and all came back negative. I have no clue how I didn't get it; it's not like we weren't in very close contact a good portion of the time (another vacation perk!) there, so it's really strange. So we both were exposed, she got it, and I didn't somehow. She didn't get very sick at all, which is great. And it just goes to show: the vaccine WORKS. It's effective and can absolutely save your life. To all these unvaccinated assholes walking around maskless and furthering the spread, I say this: fuck you! I have seen firsthand the good that the vaccine can do, and experienced it as well. The crazy thing is, I knew that one or both of us would get Covid from that trip. No matter how careful you are, there are simply too many people acting completely selfishly and irresponsibly by walking around maskless to not be exposed to it. I'm just glad she didn't get super-sick from it.
