I love Robert Reich's videos where he draws cartoons to illustrate his ideas. He did a lot to try to make America a better place. Personally, I find the whole idea of patriotism odd. As a woman, I wasn't included in the rights granted to Americans by the founders. My people have only been allowed to vote for the past 100 years! Clever people have pushed and challenged the people included as citizens since the founding. Huzzah! I was lucky to have been born of an American mother and father. How does that make me loyal to the principles of this country? It was an act of chance that I was born here as a citizen and not to someone else, somewhere else. Our country fought this war of independence over taxes. Canada didn't bother and ended up with the same result. No dead independence war heroes. No flag waving, anthem singing and blowing shit up once a year to terrify animals. Violence is woven into the fabric of who Americans are. Football is one example. Such a fucking dumb sport. Let's bash heads and cheer like maniacs for "our" team!!!! Hunting and fishing, while maybe necessary for cavemen is a "sport" based on violence that disgusts me. I haven't eaten dead animal flesh for over a decade and am very healthy. I haven't gotten covid, not even once. The LOVE of guns and all forms of violence and domination in American culture disgusts me also. The fact that a portion of 'Mericans could resist a "well regulated militia" to stop killing innocent people doesn't surprise me. The NRA has blood on it's hands. They care more about money than people's lives. Sorry to go off topic. I've worked with kids with disabilities for almost 30 years and have difficulty staying focused...Go VEGAN!!!

I took an Ecology class in the 1980s in San Francisco. I didn't own a car for the eight years I lived there and rode public transit. I chose not to have children for many reasons, but one was that there are too many people on the planet. The children I didn't have aren't using resources. They don't drive cars, buy polyester clothing, eat hamburgers or water their lush green lawns. Once I realized how cool thrift stores were, I stopped buying new consumer goods. I also became a vegan. No land is being bulldozed anywhere to make room for cows to graze for my selfish pleasure. I don't eat chickens or turkeys raise in filthy conditions and pumped full of antibiotics. Farm animals are breeding grounds for disease. I read an article about 20 million chickens being killed because they got the latest strain of avian flu. What I do doesn't probably make a dent in the Earth's decline, but I am at peace knowing that I am doing as little harm as possible. Go Vegan! Reduce, recycle, repurpose. Ride public transit. Peace!

What I hate is that the evening news always characterizes the CDC recommendations at "confusing". Do they think we are morons? If there are signs in the airport that say, "Wear a mask" then you put on a mask. If the airline's rule says you don't wear a mask, wear a mask anyway or don't. Calling changing rules "confusing" gives people permission not to follow the rules. David Muir's job is to clarify the rules, not act like a confused child. Ugh.
