Not just covid vaccine uptake, but all vaccines. I think there is a segment of the population that didn’t give much thought to getting theirs kids‘ childhood immunizations, or getting a flu shot at work. Now they have fallen down the anti vaxx rabbit hole.
In my childhood, all the kids got their shots. We still got measles, mumps, and chickenpox as those vaccines were not yet available. And we understood how wonderful it was to not have to worry about smallpox, polio, diphtheria, whooping cough and tetanus. I had mild cases of measles, mumps, pox but would have happily missed all three.
And now we are at risk of throwing it all away because of stubborn ignorance. I’m a bit of a pessimist about the future; climate change alone means tough times ahead. Last thing people need are epidemics of diseases that are preventable.

Only until too many start dying or being badly injured
Probably. It’s just what we’re stuck with now.
