Does New Speaker of the House Mike Johnson Have a Bank Account?

This is beyond weird and fishy! Just WHERE is the speaker keeping his money? Is it in a place where his "assets" (AKA possible kickbacks from oligarchs/Leo Leonard/crooks) might be easily hidden? How can a married man with children possibly have less than 1k in the bank? And supposedly for the entire 7 years he has been in Congress??

It’s certainly not uncommon for Americans to have less than $5,000 in their bank account. Most Americans—57 percent—couldn’t handle an unexpected $1,000 expense, according to a report earlier this year. And the median amount that Americans keep in their bank account is $5,300. But Johnson’s household income puts him in the top 12 percent of earners in the United States. And it’s extraordinarily rare for members of Congress to not list a qualifying bank account—let alone zero assets whatsoever.

As a person who has owned her own home since the age of 23, I know you better damn well now have 10k readily available for home repairs/emergencies or you are are screwing your future self. And I never made more than a third of what the speaker made in the last years of work and bring in 1/8 as a retired person. I cannot fathom that such a dolt would be in charge of the countries purse strings let alone be considered a responsible house owner and family man!

What Speaker Johnson has exposed here is that he is either a liar or irresponsible with money...

Jordan Libowitz, communications director for watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, offered a more blunt assessment, saying that if Johnson truly doesn’t have any assets, it “raises questions about his personal financial wellbeing.”

"It’s strange to see Speaker Johnson disclose no assets,” Libowitz told The Daily Beast. “He made over $200,000 last year, and his wife took home salary from two employers as well, so why isn’t there a bank account or any form of savings listed?”

Ethically devoid Gaetz thinks that a Congressman's questionable financial acuity and ethics means he is not corruptable.

"The Daily Beast is furious that @SpeakerJohnson isn’t rich, corrupt or rich from being corrupt," Gaetz responded, tagging the speaker's account. "He doesn’t have shady business deals. He doesn’t trade stocks as a congressman. Cry more, I guess?"
