"Using simple mathematical modelling, we have shown that, although risk associated with avoiding vaccination during a virulent pandemic accrues chiefly to those who are unvaccinated, the choice of some individuals to refuse vaccination is likely to affect the health and safety of vaccinated people in a manner disproportionate to the fraction of unvaccinated people in the population. Risk among unvaccinated people cannot be considered self-regarding, and considerations around equity and justice for people who do choose to be vaccinated, as well as those who choose not to be, need to be considered in the formulation of vaccination policy. It is unlikely that SARS-CoV-2 will be eliminated, and our findings will likely be relevant to future seasonal SARS-CoV-2 epidemics or in the face of emerging variants."

(OOPS, did not check the date on this... Polly brought it back to add an important message though so read below!)
The same selfish pricks who are antivaxxers for their "personal choice" and freedumb are the same people who think greed is good, tRUMP is not a liar and that the election was stolen.
PS: A hard return or a space right after a URL should embed the URL. If that doesn't work, and sometimes it does not, embed by highlighting and copying the URL,then use the drop down menu "link" icon, add the URL and then save. (You already know that, but like me, forget sometimes, so just adding a reminder for anyone who did not know) https://www.cmaj.ca/content/194/16/E573#sec-5
Today while I was out of the house, a friend texted to tell me she'd been infected by an antivaxxer colleague. When I got home there was a 'truther' paper stuck through my door. Fuck these people with a big metal spike. 😡
There are a lot of people who feel like we do-and a few of them piled into that article I posted earlier about that cop.
The majority of the posts were extremely critical and upset that he didn't get vaccinated, and we picked up the tab for his stupidity.
It's only been 3 years, you'd think some of us would have learned something by now, but a lot of us are just plain utterly dumber than a rock and couldn't learn how to tie their shoes with illustrated book about it.
So our grandaughter just got covid, she is under 2 years of age.
And this, children, is why we're all here, and why we're so damn angry/disgusted/upset/homicidal about the anti-vaxxers.
If it affected only them, the AVs, and nobody else, I would say "knock yourselves out!" to the willfully vax resistant, and shed no tears when they inevitably died.
But it doesn't. There are kids under 5, and people who legitimately can't be vaxxed (I know exactly 1), and people whose vaccinations may not be as effective because they're immuno-compromised. And many/most of these people are good and decent folk (or young and innocent) who do not deserve the derision we reserve, rightly IMHO, for those who believe anything their hairdresser's third cousin's stepsister says on FB, but not anyone who spent many, many years studying to become a medical professional.
Which is why we didn't win the war on this virus, like we did smallpox. People (especially christians) are too fucking stupid to realize this.
