PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence police officer and political candidate has been placed on administrative leave after he reportedly assaulted a woman outside the Rhode Island State House Friday night.
The Providence Police Department has confirmed that officer Jeann Lugo, a Republican who is running for state Senate, was placed on paid leave Saturday morning.
Rhode Island Political Cooperative co-founder Jennifer Rourke, one of Lugo’s Democratic opponents, claims he violently attacked her amidst a brawl that broke out on Smith Hill, as hundreds of people gathered to condemn the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
A couple of things to unpack in relation to this matter.
The anti abortion right has no mind at all to lose, that horse has already bolted.
The officer is on "Paid Holiday"
The (hopefully former cop) unfortunately allowed his "roid rage" to again take control of his hurt feelings, and regrets that someone there was recording it, which fortunately couldn't be hidden or go "missing".
