tRUMP Tries To Evade Blame for Alabama IVF Ban He Caused When SCOTUS overturned Roe v. Wade
Polling conducted by Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway found that a staggering 86% of voters support legal access to IVF for infertile couples. This spreads across the ideological spectrum for Republicans, with even many who consider themselves "pro-life" and "evangelical" supporting the procedure 78% and 83% respectively.
During a briefing on the data to Congress in December, Conway warned Republicans that banning or limiting access to IVF would be a political disaster for a party already reeling from unpopular anti-choice laws in the wake of the Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade.
I hope that every single person who disagrees with this and other rulings sure to come that can afford to, moves from these states that are stripping away woman’s rights. Let’s see how well these shitholes do with decreased tax revenue from a dwindling population. I will never visit or spend a single cent in any state that has jumped on the "let’s go back to the dark ages" bandwagon. Give all that tax revenue and spending to states that deserve it.
I was 15 years old when abortions became legal in US.
An article about Gerri Santoro who died from a self(done by her lover) abortion before Roe vs Wade became law. The article was in Ms Magazine 1973. Her death and photo became symbol of abortion rights.
**WARNING: IF YOU CLICK ON PHOTO THE PHOTO IS SHOCKING
Some years back, I was researching something unrelated to abortion in local newspapers from the 1800s. This was in a small town in Pennsylvania. I was surprised to see ads for what were basically abortion pills. Usually they used a euphemism such as “to treat obstructed flow” and “especially suited to married women”. Abortion did not begin in 1973, in fact it has been common all through history.
The knowledge of what was in these pills is still around. Were they toxic and potentially harmful? Hell if I know, but probably so. I would imagine that this information can and will be disseminated pretty quickly. It is barbaric that it has come to this, but it has.
Had a long convo with my 16-17 yo kids. They were rightfully pissed about the SCOTUS ruling BUT it sounded like their peer group has been “groomed” (hate the term now but it fits) to see both political parties at fault. Decades of GQP running on “govt doesn’t work and is evil“; getting elected on that premise; proving the premise by blocking anything useful once elected; then blaming the Dems especially when they have nominal majority in congress/White House; and continuing the little lies about voting fraud have taken its toll. We discussed how Dems have had a mixed history of contributing to a lot of these problems, especially the corporate Dems and the “republican-lite” Dems.
However, it dawned on me there really is only one clear and simple message/concept ALL voters need to focus on—elect fascists and we get fascist policies. Keep electing fascists and we eventually have a fascist government. All the other bullshit in media and social interwebz is just noise—much of it generated by those with a vested interest in maintaining the status quo. The Republican party has proven now that they are fascist—either outright or through consent.
The kind caring anti-abortion people screaming with their hate filled voices and faces, as in the photos often seen. Doxing the judges who decided against, and threatening their wives and children with violence. That shows the real level of them. Self seeking animals who actually have no care or concern and no religion. Now the weak and vulnerable will suffer death, at the hands of backstreet abortionists. Babies left in skips and streets put to die. Mothers dying of ectopic pregnancy and sepsis-etcI actually believe this bestial matter will become unworkable, and that the majority, who support abortion rights, will win through
Been trying and trying to think of something to say on here. I've got a boulder in my stomach and tears right behind my eyes. "I'm sorry", is all I can get out right now. Canadians are feeling your pain deeply.
To our wonderful friends across the pond, we're all deeply shocked, and stunned by the decision. This has been a hard right wet dream for years, and they will now turn to other regressive decisions in the near future that will impact heavily on many others.I fear for peoples safety, health, and well being in what is supposed to be the "freest nation" on earth. There are no words that I can describe to say to you all at how horrified that millions of us across the globe are feeling right now. It's going to be a tumultuous time in the US for anyone now, and I hope that maybe one day soon, sanity will prevail.
I feel sorrow and pity for the 11 million women who have lost the right to decide whether or not to have a child.
No, that statement is not hyperbole because Thomas himself, has stated that the court should strike down all the laws regarding contraception, gay marriage, gay rights, hell, why not the right of women to vote, too?
I'd like to ban him from the court. He is scum and his wife is worse.
A very sad day for this country. I see no improvement until we vote out all Republicans from every single office they hold.
I was class of 77 and remember much the same things. Whatever happened to the promise of greater rights in the early 1970s? I saw the conservative shift while I was in college, particularly among the students working in the campus paper. The upperclassmen still maintained the earlier 70s leftist mode, but the ones coming up behind them were predominantly Reagan conservatives. By 1981, the editorial outlook of the paper had done a complete turnaround. Think of it in terms of CNN suddenly becoming Fox.
Back in the fall of 1972, I was a HS senior, turning 18 in October. I was year book editor and contributed to the school paper. I wrote a pro-choice editorial, and voted for McGovern. Was devastated when Nixon beat him in a landslide.
Kit Bond was elected governor. Back then he was a garden variety Repub and supported choice. So did the Bushes. I believe Barbara remained pro choice her whole life, but would never speak about it publicly. So were the Fords and Betty did some pot stirring as I recall by saying she wouldn’t be bothered if her daughter had premarital sex.
But in January 1973 the SC ruled overly restrictive state abortion laws unconstitutional. And women had the constitutionally protected right to an abortion. I was so happy. It happened early enough we were able to include it in the yearbook. This was an era where the war and all the issues of the day were coveredby student journalists in the paper/yearbook and discussed by students.
For a time, the jocks, cheerleaders and homecoming queens were not all that.😚
Wait, just remembered this. in 1971 the homecoming nominees were two senior cheerleaders and a hippy chick. Hippy chick won. She wore the requisite white formal, and BF put on a suit.
BF was Ozark Mountain Daredevils band member Larry Lee.
The hippies loved it, and actually attended the homecoming in our long cotton halter dresses and other finery, slightly stoned of course. Fun, fun times.🤣
And today I am so damn pissed and sad. How did a world where a woman’s right to choose was affirmed, and we actually got the US to finally get the hell out of Viet Nam go? Hell,I thought pot would be legal by the early 80s.
Then Reagan was elected.😪
Folks sorry for this stream of consciousness disjointed rant. I had to post it somewhere and felt y’all would understand.
Clarence and Jenni Thomas claim to be Catholic. Clarence Thomas was able to get his DIVORCE, with one child. He was allowed to remarry, I guessing. Jenni Thomas has NOT ever given birth. It is my understanding that Catholics are instructed by church to have children and do not allow for divorce. Why do they not have children, church doctrine, or adopted children if they are required by they "faith". Hypocrite!!!
@elizabethcruikshank7 Who knows… Maybe someday it will come out that she had an abortion. These fucking hypocrites. When they come out as against something, they’re usually 100 percent guilty of it.
According to Catholic doctrine, Thomas is still married to Kathy Grace Ambush and he is living in sin with Virginia Lamp. When you're a star, they let you do it.
If these goddamn motherfuckers repeal gay marriage it is my death sentence! If my spousal benefits are cut off my I can’t pay the last 10 years I have left on my retirement home. Rents cost more than my house payment. I will last living in my car about 1 week! Fuck you sons of bitches! Die you sons of bitches for destroying me!!
When their 12 year old is raped by an uncle, when their wife is dying of sepsis from having to carry and bear her dead fetus naturally, when their mistresses are pregnant... when the woman they love is taken to a psychiatric/birthing/centre to be held until birth. (That is in the works in some states. Pregnancy prison... Although some GQP men have been longing to get back to being able to force their wives into a psychiatric institution )
I’ll go out on a limb and guess that republicans have more abortions thanks to lacks of sex ed, birth control, and parental guidance. And more pervy adults, preachers, and political leaders.

tRUMP listened to Kellyanne and had someone post in Lies Social for him:
About 5% of couples will use IVF and over 8 million babies have been born from IVF since 1978 according to the Cleveland Clinic. https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/treatments/22457-ivf
They want fetuses to grow up and become target practice.

Here's an editorial from The Guardian, through Yahoo--I think it's pretty good in outlining the occasionally surprising twists and turns of how we got to this point in Talibangelicalism: https://www.yahoo.com/news/christian-took-over-judiciary-changed-070008675.html
