I see there are other articles about Long Covid here, and that is excellent. Multiple perspectives are always useful. Here is another study:
Hospitalizations are significantly down, but Long Covid cases are increasing. Every week more people are diagnosed with long covid than have been documented as recovered. Both young and old are affected, but women appear to suffer more often than men. This pattern is not yet understood. As you all know, long covid is not a minor debilitation. In general, each subsequent mutation seems to be increasingly contagious, so those of us who are still covid and long covid free have to remain at high vigilance if we care about keeping our quality of life. One estimate for the global caseload of long covid is 560 million people as of this summer.
Today I received the new Moderna booster using mRNA technology. I now have had two Moderna shots and three Pfizer shots and have never had a reaction from any of them. I also received my annual flu shot today. (I've been getting those for 32 years, ever since the winter my infant son and I kept each other sick for 5 straight months.)
Long covid will be a ongoing health issue for years. The gift that keeps on giving.
