"Results show that believing in conspiracy theories reduces adoption of containment health-related behaviors and policy support of public health measures, but moral identity and morality-as-cooperation significantly mediate this relationship. This means that beliefs in conspiracy theories do not simply constitute antecedents of cognitive biases or failures, nor maladaptive behaviors based on personality traits, but are morally infused and should be dealt as such. Based on our findings, we further discuss the psychological, moral, and political implications of endorsement of conspiracy theories in the era of the pandemic."
As much as I would like for them to see the error in their ways and adopt proper infection reduction behaviors, the silver lining is they are trumpers too - almost to a person - so if they don’t and die, well, that’s a bummer. Darn. But on the plus side, fewer votes for the GQP, an increase in the country’s IQ, and less strain on social security and medicare.
I really cared before when they were clogging hospitals and denying care to those who did try to follow guidance, but now, not so much. I also believe in assisted suicide so I’m good if they choose to disregard sound medical advice and risk a deadly virus. I say go with god - because there’s still a fair chance they will.
