Edited/updated to say: I think the idea of using mailing labels instead of sticky notes is a very good one. They adhere flat and I believe peel off fairly easily, so won't deface property. They can also be printed up en masse. Also, as I said below, I'm going to put the National Abortion Federation's website "prochoice.org" on all of my messages, as well as their abortion access hotline number: 1-800-772-9100.

So the other day I was in a highway rest stop off of I-5 and had this thought: What if pro-choice women everywhere carry packets of sticky notes and pens with them and plaster messages on the backs of bathroom stall doors from coast to coast? I bought a pack and on the return trip left messages such as: "Vote out the anti-woman GOP on Nov. 8." [A red state message might be a link to an abortion access info site.]
Disadvantages: - easily removed
Advantages:
- easily replaced - cheap
- a simple concept
- no property damage
- everyone can do it
- reaches audiences that might otherwise not get much political/election info.
What do you guys think? Thanks for any input!
Cool I’m thinking about just carrying a sharpie
Suggestion for participants: write prochoice.org on all messages (unless you have a specific state org that would be better). It's a national site for abortion information.
Another possible slogan: "Vote blue or they'll take away your contraception too!"
The FREEWAY BLOGGER started small and now he inspires others... but he is also doing it on public property and checks out a state's laws before putting up signs. It sounds like a grand idea!
Reminder that the sticky idea has to be removable or you can be charged with several misdemeanors if caught. (Again depending on local laws) To me the biggest problem is it is in a public toilet and and their idea of clean is not my idea of clean. (Have lost of hand sanetizer in the same bag as the syicky notesThey have walls that DO talk... http://www.freewayblogger.com/index.htm GOOD LUCK!
When LOSET45 was ousted...
he still had lots of work to do...
I've already started sticky notes and will encourage friends to do so as well. (Also wrote my senator this morning). I have been informing people about funding male contraceptive such as Contraline. Many, even in the medical field haven't heard of this method. Just needs funding to get final trials and bring to market. Somehow this wasn't a barrier for many female contraceptive methods 🙄
What do we guys think? There is no reason men couldn't do this in men's rooms as well. They might also want the information for women they know.
LOVE.
Also - I think instead of sticky notes I might try printing the message on to those Avery mailing labels you can feed into your printer. Has the advantage of not being as easily removable. Has the disadvantage (a big disadvantage) of not being easily removable by some woman who might need to take the phone number with her. For what it's worth I live in Texas and they are now supposedly drafting legislation that will make it illegal to even leave the state if you are leaving for the purpose of obtaining an abortion.
It's a great idea - and may help some woman who is desperate for info if the right hotline number is part of the message. I don't leave the house much but I think when I do I am going to try and do this. Women's restroom stalls : The new ground zero for a groundswell of support for the new disenfranchised. (Note: Since the the kristo-fascist GOP is hell bent on driving us back into the dark ages I thought it appropriate to employ "disenfranchised" in its archaic meaning.)
