I'm working at a university and one of the most active energetic profs I know got the 'mild' in January, bounced back, went to a wedding in April and has been on sick leave ever since. No more biking to work for that one. Very sad and scary. So ya, don't want it, period.
This tweet reinforces your statement and there are many similar ones. I'm also aware that monkeypox is also airborne. Masking, avoiding risky outings, and vaccinating is all we can do. As soon as my family comes home, we change clothes, wash our hands, and sanitize the mask we're wearing.
When you sweep up cat fur, when you are done it looks cleaner, but in essence you spread a lot of dirt and dander around whole doing the sweep. Dirt is still there, but is not as noticeable as that pile of fur. That may be what is happening with COVID. Your clean up cells (microphages) mop up dead cells but while doing so spread COVID that was in those cells.
Whether the danger is from within, or you get another infection , the basic problem is that your body only has so much energy and resources to deal with a recurrence after illness. Your immune system has been weakened, your organs may have been damaged to some degree even it it wasn't severe and if you are older, your immune system and organs were already weaker than in your youth.
Illness robs your body of vitamins and simply eating well will not replenish them.. It would be wise to make sure you do a daily. (I will take additional ABCDE as those are often the ones depleted. That is me however) I also wear an N95 whenever I go out. The regular masks only worked when everyone wore them and although they still lessen the load you breathe in, if you are with someone inside who has COVID, after 15 minutes you are likely SOL...
COVID is not over and I do not want it , nor long COVID. No one can bully me to think otherwise, although they are trying.
But seriously, this is why you don't want to get it in the first place-it weakens your body's defenses to the point where it's helpless to fight off subsidiary infections.

Still much unknown about Covid, but what has been observed, about the health problems it can leave in its wake, is worrying.
I think, "avoidance is best".
I read people casually saying they've just got over their third infection, and I think, that's damn crazy.
This image is from the early days of the pandemic...

I don't have to worry about covid because I have a natural immune system.
That's what I would say if I was a moron.

Although I am spit balling with that analogy, it is a possible scenario being looked at. Harbouring virus by suppressing it is not uncommon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OjFd9w7Lic and https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fmicb.2021.698169/full give examples of COVID being found months later in tissues and intestines..

You beat me to it!
