I waited until the 3rd week of April to plant cucumbers. I noticed today all the starts have severe frost damage. This is Seattle, and the frost-free date is supposed to be April 15th. Anyone else south of Canada off to a rocky start with the garden?

This is the coldest spring I’ve experienced & I’ve lived in the PNW 64 years now. WE HAD SNOW IN APRIL.

Weather has gone crazy everywhere!
I think polytunnels are the only answer.
Iceland produces a lot of food out of polytunnels - though of course they have geo-thermal heat.
I had some of my strawberries in the gutters get nipped. I held off on starting other things because of the two previous cold snaps. My garden will be late now because my work gets crazy soon. I’ll be lucky to have much of anything outside of strawberries, yacon and potatoes. This weather was been stoopid. I was cranking with prep in Feb with that early spring. Sigh.
I have my potatoes started in an above-ground planter bag and have been picking wild ramps (leeks), but no actual planting as of yet. The temperature still drops below freezing at night here in Upstate NY. Rain and sleet yesterday. Blah!
