It is important in Nov 2022 elections that we vote as many Democrats in, but we really need 67+ seats to have the 2/3 votes needed to impeach Supreme Court justices and to expand the courts. I will be happy if we get at least 60 seats, but it would be in our best interest to get more.
I am an Independent, but I'm constantly arguing with Progressives/Democrats who keep saying that the overturning Roe vs. Wade was the Dems fault for not codifying it when they had a chance. When I ask "when was that realistically possible?" ,,, and their response was that Obama had a Filibuster majority (which was not true).
When Obama was elected, his first year was full of strife: Sen. Franken seat was contested for 7 months and he was not seated until July 2009, Sen. Byrd was sick and in the hospital, and Sen. Kennedy's illness/death. Based on calculations, Obama had only 45 working days of a Filibuster majority in his 8 years and that time was used to get the ACA passed in the Senate and House in 2009.
We cannot afford another close call or this 50/50 BS. The Dems need the seats to undo as much of the the damage that has been done by this Supreme Court. In addition, they need the seats to be able to pass voting/abortion laws and expand the Supreme Court to 13 judges to match the number of 13 courts: 11 regional circuits, plus the DC Circuit and the Federal Circuit
