Some chatter that the DNP doesn't want him to run (I agree). Numbers way too low, no matter the fault. Who is his replacement? Can Bernie, AOC, Warren win a general election? Whom do you like? Personally, I like Sherrod Brown from Ohio, but he seems unwilling. I'd like to hear others' opinions.

At first this thread looked like a divide and conquer strategy to me. Bobby arrived around when I did but not too much participation at that point. (no personal insult intended Bobby)
I see nothing wrong with Biden. He's competent and mega experienced. But society practices various degrees of ageism.
If he is not going to run again, which is understandable to me, then Yes, we need to be thinking seriously about his replacement. I'm going to wait until I hear from the horses mouth whether Biden is running or not before I make my meaningless decision for a potential candidate ha ha.
Meanwhile dealing with the lunatic GOP and right-wing is serious business.
There is some egregiously impaired and incompetent candidates in their ranks who can't wait to grab the national steering wheel and smash the nation to hell and steal all the luggage.
I have and can again live the life of the "forgotten man" and survive. My needs are minimal but it is a different story for people who have families to take care of.
It's the possibility of bloodshed and cruely of the neocon crusader fascists that worries me. Apocolypse has always been on the table but highly improbable until the Orange Menace and his deranged cabal of leaders and soldiers made the reality of their rural dug-in expanding presence and intent real.
I'd love to get someone very neutral, and not THAT political. Malcolm Nance is over fighting in Ukraine right now, he's a true American hero with lots of leadership experience. Someone like him, (with a wife who died of cancer a few years ago?) Would bring the ENTIRE country together.
Biden cannot win. It isn't his fault -- no president in office during a period of high inflation, a bear market, and war can win. He needs to recognize this and bow out, and someone needs to have a come to jesus talk with Harris and explain that she cannot win either. Too associated with what has happened, and is even less popular than Biden.
My dark horse -- Eric Adams. The GOP is somehow attracting larger portions of black and brown voters. Eric Adams did extremely well with these groups; he runs as a tough on crime cop; he's very moderate; and he speaks like a normal, blue collar person. If he could get through the dem primary, I think he wins back all the black and brown vote that the GOP has won over, while keeping all the anti-Trump college educated vote. Maybe grab Joe Manchin as a running mate, or try a whacky cross-party thing and go with Lisa Murkowski.
If I could wave a magic wand, I'd have something like a Warren/AOC ticket sworn in on Jan 20, 2025. But, I don't. I live in the real world, where a moderate candidate is going to be needed for a chance at taking out DeSantis (who will be the 2024 GOP nominee). If somehow Trump is the nominee, I think it'll also take Liz Cheney running as a third party aimed at picking off ultra-conservatives who would never cross over and vote dem, but who are sick of Trump; I hope she's willing to do it if need be.
I'd run except I'm not a millionaire, billionaire, a lawyer, or a politician. I suppose I'd support Harris by default but she wouldn't be my first choice. I can't imagine having to tango daily with repuglithugs. If Ted Leui would have been born in America, I'd support him.
Michelle and Pete. Biden can't win. Harris can't win. Michelle better run. She's a lock.
Biden's approval rating is low right now. It may or may not go up by the time of the 2024 election. You'd have to be psychic to predict either way. A large chunk of the American public gives the President all the credit or blame for things which the President has little to no control. If life appears to improve for most Americans within two years, Biden's numbers will go up again, regardless of whether or not it was actually his doing.
Can Biden re-instate the Net Neutrality Act? It was implemented under Obama, then dismantled by Trump.
The GOP tried to smear Tammy Duckworth when she ran, alleging she ran a corrupt Veterans office in Chicago. That bullshyte didn't get anywhere, and her opponent former Sen. Mark Kirk was outed as stolen valour (claiming he was awarded "Intelligence Officer of the Year" and claiming he participated in Operation Desert Storm when he did not).
When Joe Biden first ran, he said he would only run for one term. I suspect that Kamala Harris will be the 2024 candidate since she is the Vice-President, unless something really weird happens.
I'd really hoped Biden would choose Tammy Duckworth as a running mate. Maybe she turned him down..
She's tough & credible, a woman (but a vet) and so far, the GQP hasn't smeared her in a way that makes her a nonstarter. Whether she'd be crazy enough to run, I don't know...
Hopefully, Biden will decline to run again due to good sense. I like him, but he is just another old white guy. Time to young up our leadership. Personally, I think a ticket of Jamie Raskin/ Pete Buttigieg in either order might have some legs. Then we could tick off two more firsts.
