$2,245.62 a second: ExxonMobil scores enormous profit on record gas prices

I know, Vaxxed. I have thought this all through, and I know about Dead Hand.

I was thinking more of our planet's demise through global warming. Unlike nukes, it's a certainty.

Exactly! The wealthy have gone to unbelievable lengths in prepping. They believe it's necessary.

I am utterly convinced they'll merely prolong their own terror and suffering to no avail.

Totally with you guys though it is depressing to think about.

It’s more of that weird thinking on the part of the right wing. Don’t participate, don’t carry your weight, suck the life out of society and pretend your contribution wouldn’t matter while only looking to save yourself and immediate family by opting out of the things that could save them.

If any of the doomsday stuff does come to pass, all they will have done is lock themselves into bizarre life-extending torture chambers of their own design. Kind of like the rest of humanity in a twisted way.

We’ve been having really crazy weather this year and crop yields are forecast to be down. With the recent research that pollen is losing its viability thanks to the heat, things are getting worse much faster than at least I expected. Everyone is looking at 2050 as a deadline on reducing carbon emission by half but I am now wondering if that’s realistic, and if that will be about 20 years too late.

So many are thinking it’s hot this year but next year will be better but we’re in the spiral where each year is hotter than the last. This stuff won’t be getting better until CO2 levels start dropping and yet CO2 is increasing fast still.

It’s at least interesting. I keep hoping I’m wrong but my work career overlaps heavily with all the stuff involved in warming. I can’t disprove it or even chip away at it as much as I wish I could.

But it’s not a reason to give up. The more we do to reduce carbon emissions, the longer things can be sustainable. Make things sustainable long enough and we may even move into decreases in carbon in the atmosphere and oceans. If we want any hope of pulling out of this, we have to do what we can. There’s lots of research into carbon sequestration, fusion energy, alternatives like solar, wind, and wave power, etc. It’s not hopeless but the longer people drag their feet, the more likely we fail. In the meantime, and until more get on board, I’ll be pessimistic but watching.
